Stitch Standards
I am using the US/International Standard Crochet Terms
Foundation Chains
This stitch requires multiple of 2 stitches + additional 2 for the base chain
Example: If you are to make 20 stitches, add an extra 2 chains, giving you a total of 22 chains.
Did you know? that the moss stitch or linen stitch starts the pattern with a chain 1 space?
Row 1 (Right Side)
Skip 3 chains from hook.
As mentioned above, the moss stitch starts with a chain 1 space of the stitch repeat.
- the first chain counts as chain 1 space
- the 2nd chain does not count as a stitch, it is just a holder of the other 2 chains
- the 3rd stitch counts as the base of the chain 1 space
1 single crochet into the next chain. * Chain 1. Skip the next chain, and single crochet in the next chain. Repeat from * all the way across. The last chain should have the last single crochet.
Row 2 (Wrong Side)
Row 2 (Wrong Side): Chain 2. (this counts as your first chain 1 space). Skip the first stitch. 1 single crochet into the next chain 1 space. * Chain 1. Skip the next stitch, single crochet in the next chain 1 space. Repeat from * all the way across. Your last stitch must be a single crochet.
Repeat Row 2 to continue until desired stitches.
